Every year The American Yo-Yo Association (AYYA) crowns a Champion of the Year. Yo-Yo competitors gain points by competing and placing in a yo-yo freestyle at an AYYA sanctioned yo-yo contest. After 31 AYYA sanctioned contests, the AYYA Champion Points Race for 2009 is over. There were about 300 competitors who earned points over the 2009 yo-yo season. This year's point race came down to the final contest of the year, The U.S. National Yo-Yo Contest. On October 3rd, nationally ranked yo-yo competitors from all over the country gathered in the quaint town of Chico, California to compete for the National Title. After making the finals in 2 divisions at Nationals and adding to the points he earned at other yo-yo contests, Samm Scott of Davnville, VA was crowned the 2009 AYYA Champion of the Year.
Congratulations SAMM! Â Check out a list of all the point holders HERE
