I am honored to be selected as the incoming president of this association. Since 1988 when the first renewed widespread interest in yo-yos started, I have felt that when people work together, more can be accomplished. In 1993 the AYYA was created through discussions and finally, officially, in a living room after dinner. All these years the goals have been clear, the methods of reaching them, not so much. So, now, it is my turn to steer a path toward uniting the various interests of a sport we all have in common. I will try to be clear and keep aspirations in line with what we can accomplish.
As with all volunteer work, it goes in spurts, due to the ever present need of earning a living. Our goal is to pursue a more relevant stance for the association knowing full well, there will be times progress seems slow, but we should be confident, with time, we will get there. There is a proposed reorganization of the association that needs your attention, and your comment, if you are inclined. But I am at least asking everyone to be informed. The current method for learning and discussing changes in the association is the ayya.org forum. You are invited to express your comments. I would like to thank Dave Schulte for his longevity as my predecessor and compliment him on the way he moved the association forward. But he is not off the hook, he will be retained as past president, sounding board, and an active director. The future starts now. What you would like to see happen, needs to be discussed now. |
